Backrooms (2026)

God damn...

This film is something else.

It's creepy, unsettling and packed with so much suspense that I spent most of the runtime wondering what was lurking around the next corner.

I've followed the Backrooms story ever since Kane Pixels first uploaded his now iconic YouTube video back in 2019. It's amazing to see an internet horror phenomenon grow from a short video into a full-blown cinema release.

The film does a great job of capturing that same feeling of isolation and dread. Endless yellow corridors shouldn't be terrifying.

Yet somehow they are.

There's a constant sense that something isn't quite right, and the suspense just keeps building. Rather than throwing jump scares at you every five minutes, it relies on atmosphere, and for me that's always far more effective.

The ending is very clearly setting things up for a second film, and I'm completely on board with that. There's still plenty of mystery left to explore, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next.

Just don't expect every question to be answered.

That wouldn't be very Backrooms.
